Myth: All essential oils have a placebo effect. They don’t sway our emotions, we only think they do.
Fact: So what if it’s a placebo effect. If it works, it works!
If you think about it, there is a therapy for all our five senses. There is massage therapy for touch; music therapy for hearing; guided imagery therapy for vision; ice cream for taste; and essential oils for aromatherapy. Sometimes people halt when they hear the word ‘therapy,’ so let’s just say this act of nourishing our five senses is ‘self-care.’
There is so much information about essential oils out there. My favorite thing I have heard is that their effects on us are purely subjective. This means that if we believe with all our heart and soul that smells can elevate our mood, then they just might. You see, whatever we believe becomes our reality.
I guess if I am going to believe anything about aromatherapy, I’m going to believe that certain smells have a real, uplifting effect on me. Why not? I need a little drop of happiness sometimes. Don’t you?
The older I get, the more I understand what it means to truly nourish myself in a holistic way. It may seem contradicting to people that I could work in the aesthetic world and continually strive to be the most natural version of myself. Some would argue that you aren’t natural if you inject your face. They’d argue that aesthetic treatments are the wrong path to truly nourish yourself. But when it’s all said and done, it’s not about the injections. It’s entirely about what you believe makes you feel beautiful and what makes you feel the best version of yourself.
Yes, I believe in cosmetic injections. I also believe in limiting my intake of modern medicine and processed materials; choosing instead to use more natural means to feel better from the inside out (watch out for a future blog post about the best foods to give us that inner and outer glow!). Whenever I need a little sprinkle of happiness, I turn to my essential oils.
If you know me, you know I am a lover of real stories, real people, and real product. That is why the oils from Saje Natural Wellness are my personal favorite. Also, if you know me, you know I won’t spread my love of any products I haven’t tried myself or believe in. I merely want to share with you products I know are made from real, healthy substances from people who are the real shit.
Now that that is cleared up, let’s talk Saje Natural Wellness essential oils. (Please note this is not a sponsored post).
Jean-Pierre and Kate Ross LeBlanc started Saje in order to find a natural solution for chronic pain that became after their involvement in a serious car accident. This couple had a vision to provide their community with 100% natural, plant-derived wellness products, and have done so for three decades. I had the opportunity to learn about their products while at a training in San Francisco and randomly walked into one of their storefronts. I was impressed by their drive to create quality products as well as their ability to match products to my specific needs.
Each essential oil created by Saje Natural Wellness serves a different purpose for me depending on how I want to feel and what kind of ambiance I am looking for in a room. I love diffusing the Peaceful blend oils in my workspace and injection rooms to create calmness for my clients. Tranquility and Unwind are two of my favorites in my bedroom to promote peaceful sleep, and Liquid Sunshine is what I use in my home to create the feeling of the Mexico rays if the winter blues set in.
I have found that aromatherapy in the form of essential oils has had a catalytic impact on my well being. Each aroma has its own specialty and character that adds relief from my hectic life that retail therapy simply cannot!
What sense do you nourish most? Least?
If aromatherapy is your go to nourishment, tell me: what oil do you consider essential?
Take care of yourself—one form of therapy at a time. Because if you do take care of yourself and you’re truly happy, you will shine.
Here are my must-haves at home. (Please note that I have tried every diffuser on the market and have tried many oils. Once I visited their storefront in San Fransisco and was educated on their brand I was sold from there on out).
Shine on beauties.
